Lip Lifting
What is Lip Lifting?
The lip lifting surgery, which is also known as upper lip shortening, is applied to people whose distance between the lower edge of the nose and the lip is longer than normal. It is suitable for the patients who are structurally dissatisfied with the length of the upper lip area. In addition to this, this distance begins to increase in each individual during the aging process. In the lip lifting surgery, it is aimed to create an “angel wing” effect on the lips by reducing the distance in this area of the person.
How is Lip Lifting Surgery Performed?
An incision is made just below the nose at the junction of the upper lip area and the nose. The length that we will consider as the excess is removed. After the excess skin is removed, is sutured. It is important to close the incision in layers because it is vital that the sutures are placed under the skin to maintain the lip shape and provide adequate strength. After the deep sutures are placed, the skin edges are meticulously aligned. The lip lifting reshapes two different crests on the upper lip and it redefines the distance between the base of the nose and the upper part of the lips. The ideal length for this zone is 12 to 15 millimeters. For the women who want fuller lips, the lip augmentation can also be applied. After the lip lifting procedure, a very good recovery is observed, which is not noticed depending on the nature of the incision site.
Healing Period after Lip Lifting Surgery
The recovery period after the lip lifting surgery takes between 5 and 7 days. It is normal for your lip to swell in the first 72 hours after surgery. The sutures are removed within 5-7 days, by allowing you to return to your daily life.
