Scar Treatment
What is Scar Treatment?
The “scar” treatment refers to all attempts to improve the appearance of the different scars that form on the skin surface for various reasons. After each small or large deformation on the skin, the scars can remain on the skin surface.
The trauma originating from the injury, acne scars and even surgical scars cannot disappear. However, some scar treatments can speed up this process and make the scar almost invisible.
How Scar Treatment is Performed?
In fact, the scars are a natural part of the healing process and they leave scars during the healing process of the skin, depending on the depth of the skin layers, and these scars can be treated in different ways. With the surgical procedures called the scar revision, the scar is made less visible. Thus, it becomes less noticeable when viewed from the outside. This procedure is mostly done under the local anesthesia. Different correction options are preferred according to the location and prominence of the scar.
Are Causes of Scar Formation Important for Scar Treatment?
The scars can occur for different reasons, and the shape of the scar mainly depends on the cause. The acne scar, burn, cutting injury cause scars of different characters. Besides the cause of the injury, the age and lifestyle of the individual, skin quality and even diet affect the character of the scar. All skin scars heal spontaneously over time and take their best shape, but sometimes noticeable and cosmetically disturbing scars can remain.
Typically, a scar will appear red and conspicuous at first, but will gradually fade and become less prominent. The healing process of surgical skin scars in the human body takes between 12-14 months.
The size and depth of the scar (scar-scar) is also important in the scar treatment. Sometimes drug treatments such as steroid injections can be sufficient. The surgical procedures can be required for more prominent and bad-looking scars.
What are Scar Treatment Alternatives?
There are many options that can be applied to the scar treatment. The most common scar treatment options are surgery, pressure treatment, local steroid treatment, PRP treatment, and silicone gel application. Each scar treatment method works differently, but most of these treatments are aimed at increasing the cellular regeneration of the skin so that the scars disappear much faster. Some of these methods can be applied in combination.
